How to start a new running programme

Running is one of the easiest, yet most difficult things to do!  Whilst it is simply a case of “one foot in front of the other”, the actual process of running is surprisingly hard.  It is important that you set about it in the right way as a beginner.

If you want to learn how to run as a total beginner, it is important that you do not start off too hard or too fast.  If you are completely new to exercise, it is a very good idea to begin with just walking to start with.  Walking regularly at the same time each day can get you into the right habit to do your exercise each day.  Walking is still a great cardio exercise, and can help build up your fitness before you start running.

It is a good idea to find a well known workout plan for your running. We love the Couch to 5K plan, which gradually builds up the intervals you are running for, until eventually you can run for a full 30 minutes non stop.  You can find various apps and websites which detail this plan.  It lasts for approximately 12 weeks.
